Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: Pillows and Duvets are provided but you will need to supply your own bedding, towels and tea towels.


Q: What electrical equipment is provided?
A: The cottage has a washing machine, fridge, gas cooker, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, iron, portable electric heaters.


Q: What leisure equipment is provided?
A: There is a flat screen TV with satellite channels in various languages/DVD player, Portable CD / Radio, a selection of boxed games, a Bar-B-Q , outdoor patio table and chairs and two bicycles.


Q: What heating is provided?
A: There is a large wood burning stove which soon heats the whole cottage when it is cold in the winter. Logs are provided in the outside wood store. Electric heaters are available for Summer use if it becomes chilly in the evenings.


Q: Is there hot water?
A: On tap hot water is stored in a large electric tank and is piping hot in both the downstairs shower room and the upstairs bathroom as well as in the kitchen.


Q: Where is the nearest shop?
A: During the Summer season Vauveix has a small supermarket selling a wide of products including fresh bread, meat, vegetables, fruit and milk, alcohol and newspapers.  The nearby campsite also has a small shop and a mobile baker visits the village each morning.
 
Eymoutiers is the nearest town, approximately a 15 minute drive from Vauveix and here you will find everything you would expect from a town all year round.  The Casio supermarket opens until 8 pm and also opens on Sundays.
 
Peyrat is also approximately a 15 minute drive and has a number of small shops and a selection of restaurants.  The Hotel Belle Rive has an English bar, sky sports and wi-fi Internet access.
 
Limoges is the place to go for the big stores, it's a thriving city and approximately a 45 minute drive from Vauveix.  Limoges is also accessible by train from Eymoutiers. 


Q: Where can we eat out?
A: During the Summer Season Vauveix has its own bar on the lake bank which serves good food.  There is also a pizzeria on the road into the village and a food and ice cream kiosk on the beach.  Good restaurants can be found in most villages as well as the surrounding towns and the city of Limoges.  Eating out is inexpensive in this area of France.


Q: How can I access the Internet?
A: There are good Internet facilities available at the Library in the centre of Eymoutiers and wi-fi connection is available at the English bar at the Hotel Belle Rive in Peyrat Le Chateau.


Q: How do I get to Vauveix?
A: By Air : Ryanair currently offering cheap flights from East Midlands, Liverpool and Stanstead to Limoges.  BMI Baby offer cheap flights from East Midlands Directions from Limoges Bellegrade Airport to Vauveix.
 
By Car Easily : Accessible by road Limoges is due south of Paris on the motorway A20.  Leave the A20 at Junction 35 on the D979 via Feytiat


Q: Do I need to pay a deposit?
A: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required when booking and the balance to be paid in full 8 weeks before arrival at the cottage.
